New drama workshops, oral heritage, and theatre production in Stirling, starting spring 2025

Following on from previous projects in Scotland, Trojan Women Project is initiating a new drama workshop programme in Scotland as part of our Trojans UK 22-25 “Why Am I In Your Country?” theatre and podcast series.

In 2024 Trojan Women Project carried out a screening of the Trojans UK 22 performance film for International Women’s Day at Edinburgh University, with a Q&A panel featuring cast members from Trojans UK 22 (London 2022) and The Trojans (Glasgow 2019).

We also hosted a creative writing and holiday week in Arisaig with refugee and asylum seeker families.

In 2023 Trojan Women Project, with the fantastic support of Belhaven Hill School, helped two Syrian refugee children with severe educational needs obtain full fees bursaries.

We also mounted a screening of The Trojans performance film and Q&A panel for Edinburgh University’s School of History, Classics and Archaeology, with cast members of the play.

We hosted a creative writing and holiday week in Arisaig for refugee and asylum seekers.

Enscripted. 2020-1 A black comedy drama project suggested by refugee participants after the success of The Trojans in 2019. Curtailed because of COVID, we moved it online, eventually to include Syrian refugees not only from Glasgow, but also other parts of the UK, the Middle East and Europe.

The Trojans (Platform theatre, Easterhouse 2018-19 & the EICC 2019 Edinburgh Fringe). A new adaptation of Euripides’ the Trojan Women with a cast of Syrian refugee New Scots and asylum seekers. Drama workshops and the premier were hosted by the Platform in Easterhouse, Glasgow.

Kaleidoscope. 2017-18. A creative writing for audio drama programme following on from our 2014 We Are All Refugees Jordan based radio miniseries (see: Here) with Syrian refugees in Glasgow and Aberdeen.
