WHAT ARE WE FUND RAISING FOR?

Nine years ago we produced the first ever Arabic adaptation of the musical Oliver! With a cast of Syrian refugee children in Jordan, with the support of Sir Cameron Mackintosh. We shot a documentary, Where is Love? Which is coming out later this year.

Now the stars of that show are trying to pay their way through university or college - and so are the other kids who were in Oliver!

Life is still very tough for Syrian refugees in Jordan. Fadi and the others have come to terms with the fact that they will have to build their lives in Jordan, a long way from their homes, and their extended families. And their parents are very short of money. This education is the ladder that will help Fadi, Alaa, Faten, Qusai and the others lift their families out of poverty and give them back something of the lives they lost.

FADI (22)

Fadi (who played Oliver), is at Jordan’s Al-Zaytoun university, studying Cyber-security – he is working as a barista to pay for his degree and wants to raise money for his sister Faten instead. His fees are £2800 a year.

Faten (19)

Faten is Fadi's younger sister and she played a chorus member in Oliver!

Faden wants to study psychology. Attending University and getting a degree would save her from entering an arranged marriage.

Her fees are £4,300 a year.

Alaa (26)

Alaa played one of the characters in Oliver's gang. She is currently studying architecture and engineering at Al Zaytoun and needs support for three years worth of fees, at £2800 a year.

Qusai (19)

Qusai (who played the captain of Oliver's gang) is in his last year of High School and wants to read Film and Media studies.
His fees will be around £2800 a year.
